Did Bon Jovi’s Cowboy Anthems Inspire Today’s Country Sound?

You wouldn’t think of it 30 years ago when Bon Jovi sang about steel horses and being wanted “dead or alive”, but the New Jersey rockers changed the sound of country music. Decades before “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”, the band’s first foray into the world of country music, Bon Jovi sang songs about small town life, which inspired today’s country artists. Those artists now look to emulate the band’s arena rock performances with pop production. Jason Aldean has been know to play “Wanted Dead Alive” on tour, Dierks Bentley covered “Livin’ on a Prayer”, and Cassadee Pope called “Bed of Roses” one of her favorite songs of all time.

Is country music really that different of a world than rock? Especially today?
