A Dutch astronaut dialed the wrong phone number from space and wound up reaching 911.
André Kuipers said he was trying to reach Johnson Space Center in Houston. To get a line, he had to dial 9 and then 011 for an international call.

Kuipers missed the zero and called the emergency number. He received an email asking if he called 911.
Kuipers has completed two space station missions. He was surprised at how easy it was to contact Earth from space by phone. He said astronauts could reach phones on Earth via satellites about 70 percent of the time.

Did you know astronauts could call you from space?
