Chip, Chip, Hurray!

SATURDAY: National Potato Chip Day

Saturday is National Potato Chip Day…one irresistible snack if you ask me.

It is believed that the potato chip came to be on August 24, 1853, when an unhappy restaurant customer, complained that his potatoes were too thick and soggy and kept sending them back.

Chef George Crum decided to slice the potatoes as thin as possible, frying them until crisp and added extra salt. To the chef’s surprise, the customer loved them, and they soon became a regular item on the restaurant’s menu.

Funny enough – we made homemade chips at my house last weekend.  They were fantastic!  However, I am sworn to secrecy by the husband to not share his recipe.  I should also share – we don’t have any left….
