It is not going to be a good afternoon for those who travel on Metra.

Signal problems at Union Station have not been repaired, and Metra riders can continue to expect long delays and multiple cancellations on the BNSF, Heritage Corridor, Milwaukee North, Milwaukee West, North Central, and Southwest Service as a result. The overcrowding plan has been implemented at the station. Riders should make alternative plans for their commute, if possible. (Updated 4pm)

Metra BNSF trains are operating on a “load-and-go” basis until further notice, due to the ongoing signal failures at Union Station. The normal weekday schedule has been abandoned; outbound trains will depart as quickly as possible once they are filled. Trains will either make all stops between Union Station and Downers Grove Main Street, or make all stops between Downers Grove Main Street and Aurora. Inbound service is extremely limited. Check message boards carefully.
