Peter Tork, singer, and bassist for the Monkees, has died at age 77. The news has been confirmed by his sister Anne Thorkelson, but the cause of his death remains unknown. It is noted that in 2009, Tork was diagnosed with rare tongue cancer. Tork also played the keyboard for the group, and when they premiered on NBC in 1966 he was the oldest member at age 24. While Tork ultimately left the group in the late ’60s, he returned in the mid-’80s to go on major reunion tours.
