Quite the fake smile…with someone else’s dentures!

DATELINE: North Vernon, Indiana

The Jennings County Sheriff’s office received a report last week from a woman who said that North Vernon resident, Joann Childers, had stolen her artificial teeth and was wearing them around town.

Childers apparently isn’t a stranger to the law.  As the stolen dentures investigation continued, authorities spoke with a probation officer who had met with Childers. The officer said Childers had worn teeth to the probation meeting that she believed weren’t hers.

Officers were able to locate the stolen dentures Wednesday after approaching Childers at her home and observed they even had the victim’s name written on them.

The sheriff’s office said the dentures have been recovered, and that Childers will be facing charges of theft….and isn’t smiling too much after the incident.
