One financially successful banker has learned that lesson the hard way.
The investment bank Citigroup has suspended a senior trader allegedly accused of stealing food from the staff canteen.
The trader, Paras Shah, is reported to have been earning more than a million dollars a year including bonuses AND to helping himself to sandwiches from the office’s lunchroom.
According to the Financial Times (who I don’t believe I’ve ever referenced in Fact or Fiction), Shah was the head of high-yield bond trading for Europe, the Middle East and Africa and was removed from his job last month.
Instead of the fancy cucumber or salmon sandwiches – I suppose he’ll just have to get used to eating Raman noodles.
